Searching for Antique and Vintage components for my designs
I have always been interested in searching through Antique Shops and Flee Markets. Some of the best places that I found for Antique and vintage components are New York City and West Palm Beach, Florida.
There are many antique shops in New York City, but I especially love the Antique and Design Center on 40th W 25th St. I could spends days there looking for special items. The setup of this place in New York City reminded me a little of the Louvre des Antiquaries in Paris, in the fact that the building holds 3 levels of vendors stalls where vintage jewelry, clothing, collectibles and home designs are on display. It is an especially great location because on 26th St, just around the block, there is a magnificent flee market which takes place every weekend. I have also found some wonderful old beads which I will use to create in my hand-knotted designs. I also love the GreenFlee market which is on 76th st in Manhattan on Saturday and Sunday. This market is one of the best in New York City
These days, I find most of my treasures combing the shops in West Palm Beach. There is a famous strip called the Antique District in West Palm Beach which has incredible findings.
No matter where you live, there are plenty of antique, vintage or thrift shops. I have trained myself to look for what is good by reading books and magazines. I have a special interest all beautiful things, it could be silk fabric, leather, feathers as well as old jade, rhinestone pendants, Art Deco and interesting vintage components.
