Selecting the proper semi-precious stones and pearls
Today, I find myself thinking about the quality of the beads and fresh water pearls that I purchased from vendors at trade shows. It is necessary for me to check out everything about these beads before making a selection.
That is why, I personally select all stones, pearl, beads and antique components that I will incorporate in my one- of-a-kind designs. It is important that the holes in the stones are uniform for my work as I hand-knot my jewelry in silk.
I carefully examine every hole in the strand of beads. Some holes are not round and look crooked which will not work for my jewelry. I really enjoy checking out the quality of the stones. I have asked a lot of questions about the stones over the years which has given me knowledge about what I will buy from the vendors. Every pearl and bead have a different size diameter which makes it tricky when I am designing a necklace. I really enjoy checking out the quality of the stones
Recently, I bought several strands of fresh water pearls from pearl shop from Shanghai. This was my first purchase of beads on line. Although, I personally shop at trade shows all over the country, I needed these pearls promptly.
The pearls came from China on time but I was very disappointed in the uniformity of the pearls. I have not used these pearls yet as plan because half of them are poor quality. The vendors was very nice but I would think twice before every buying on the internet again.
I am enclosing 3 vendors that I have purchased stone and pearls from for 17 years. I have visited their main offices in New York and Miami and Orlando. Below are 3 vendors that are very good companies with quality stones and pearls.
