Color inspiration from the Botanic Gardens at Fairchild
Love to take day trip to the beautiful Fairchild garden which is nestled in the tropical atmosphere of Coral Gables, Florida.
It is truly a magnificent garden with many glorious area’s to explore. We especially love the Palm exhibit which consist of over 500 species of trees, the Butterfly and succulent gardens.
The Tropical Flowering Tree Arboretum is a 12-acre display of 740 species of tropical flowering trees, shrubs and vines, collected from all tropical regions of the world. Arranged by plant family, these collections show a magnificent diversity of form, structure, texture, color and fragrance. Adjacent to the Arboretum is the 700-foot long Vine Pergola, an historic stone and wood arbor supporting a dazzling array of tropical flowering vines of every imaginable shape and color, including the spectacular Jade Vine. Don’t miss the Geiger Tropical Flower Garden featuring a lovely exhibit of colorful tropical flowering plants from around the world.
There is a wonderful tram that runs every hour which gives you an overview of the gardens and plenty of cold drinking water that is free. They also have a lovely cafe where you can rest.
I love to visit the Fairchild and think about the spectacular colors of nature that I will incorporate in my collections. The jade plant was the most impressive plant to me. I could not get over its vibrant shade of aquamarine. I was shock to see this flowering plant in such an unusual hue. If you are in the Miami area, take a day to visit the Fairchild. I am sure that you will not be disappointed.
