Staying in Shape While Designing Jewelry
I have written about exercise before, but I cannot stress how important moving around is for the jewelry designer. We cannot just sit all day and make jewelry.
I have been at my craft for 17 years and realize everyday that I need more exercise to keep in tip top shape. My first love is walking, but recently I enjoy mixing up my routine with gardening, hot yoga and a very long walks. By long walk, I mean a 10 mile walk to my favorite beach. I especially like this Jupiter Beach in Florida because they have a cafe on the grounds.
After my long walk, I treat myself to lunch and a swim in the ocean. My 10 mile walk has a view of the ocean which is pretty spectacular. I take many photo’s on the way to the park for designing inspiration.
After living in Florida for 4o years, I am finally lucky enough to own a gorgeous swimming pool. It is also fun to get some exercise in my pool. My recent love for Hot Yoga increases my energy and helps with conditioning for my long walks. All of this exercise is a beautiful combination which keeps me flexible and happy.
My Hot Yoga is an eighty minute practice. I really love it and think it is very good for my skin.
I am not an exercise fanatic, but this healthy change of pace helps me be more creative with my craft. Start out slowly with your exercise, you will be surprise at how much better you will feel about yourself.
